DLR Control Network Reinstatement — TfL Stations
Triple Survey was appointed by Transport for London (TfL) to reinstate the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) survey control network after station construction displaced existing points. The scope covered Westferry, West Silvertown and King George V, delivering QA checks, coordinate verification and full witness diagrams for future re-establishment.
Project Overview
Survey control underpins every element of rail engineering. Following upgrades at three stations, we reinstated displaced control, tied new marks into the wider TfL network, and provided a traceable audit via witness diagrams and QA reports, ensuring reliability for future construction and maintenance.
- Reinstated control at Westferry, West Silvertown, King George V.
- Redundant observations and checks for network integrity.
- Witness diagrams, coordinate schedules and AutoCAD drawings.
- Compliant QA documentation to TfL standards.

Re-establishing Survey Control
We recovered and re-established survey control where original marks were disturbed or inaccessible, creating a resilient network with clear ties to permanent features and TfL references.
Re-establishing control with robust ties and checks.
Westferry Station
At Westferry, we reinstated control stations with redundancy measurements, issuing coordinate tables and sketches for rapid reoccupation.
Westferry: control reinstated and verified.
West Silvertown Station
At West Silvertown, we established new control points and confirmed alignment with the DLR grid to support ongoing improvements and maintenance.
West Silvertown: network continuity confirmed.
King George V Station
At King George V, we reinstated and checked control, documenting ties to physical features so future teams can re-occupy quickly and accurately.
King George V: reinstated control with witness ties.
Witness Diagrams & QA Reporting
We supplied witness diagrams, coordinate schedules and AutoCAD drawings with QA summaries, giving TfL a durable record for future re-establishment and audits.
